Light Aircraft Carriers - CVL

During W.W.II, Light Aircraft Carriers were constructed by converting existing Cruiser hulls in order to quickly increase the Navy's number of available floating flightdecks. The Light Aircraft Carriers were smaller than the Fleet Carriers but - unlike the slow Escort Carriers - they were able to keep up with the speeds of their larger sisters which made it easier for them to operate together.
