USS EDWARD McDONNELL was the third GARCIA - class frigate. Commissioned as a destroyer escort, the ship was redesignated as a frigate on June 30, 1975. Decommissioned on September 30, 1988, and stricken from the Navy list on December 15, 1992, the EDWARD McDONNELL was sold for scrapping on July 25, 1995. Scrapping was completed on August 21, 2002.
